Sasha Denisova<\/strong> is a Ukrainian playwright and theatre director. With a career rooted in the defence of freedom of expression and human rights, her work has been profoundly shaped by the war in Ukraine and its human consequences.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In 2022, together with actor Aleksei Yudnikov<\/strong>, she was forced into exile following the Russian invasion, beginning a residency within the Artists at Risk (AR)<\/strong> programme.<\/p>\n

During her stay, Denisova<\/strong> wrote and directed My Mother and the Total Invasion<\/em>, a powerful play based on the real-life experience of her mother, who chose to remain in Kyiv despite the bombings. The work premiered at the CCCB<\/strong> and was later presented in Reus<\/strong> and Santa Coloma de Gramenet<\/strong>, becoming a brave and moving artistic denunciation of everyday resistance in times of war.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With a lucid and deeply committed theatrical voice, Denisova conceives theatre as a tool for memory and resistance, from a feminist and radically human perspective. Her residency in Barcelona<\/strong> has been not only a creative refuge, but also a platform from which to continue raising her voice on behalf of all those who are persecuted for their art.<\/p>\n
