Artistes en Risc
Artist at Risk (AR) is a global organization with residencies in cities such as Helsinki, Berlin, Cambridge, Oslo, Gnesta, Reykjavik, Tunis, Sofia, and Rome, among others. Its goal is to map and compile a database of artists worldwide who suffer some form of repression due to political ideology, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. Artists contact the organization, and after analyzing their profiles and situation, the organization provides them with a safe space in the various organizations collaborating on this project so they can continue their artistic activity and as a voice to the international community regarding the danger and loss of rights these individuals face.
In the 2022-2023 period, Artist at Risk (AR) received more than 6,000 requests for assistance from artists in situations of risk, and was able to arrange residencies for 762 people, thanks to the collaboration of the more than 300 organizations that are part of the AR network of hosting centers with a presence around the world.
Artist at Risk (AR) and NO CALLAREM collaborate through the Residències Barcelona Artistes en Risc project, which began in 2019, having hosted the following artists:
